The City

By: nike13

The sun had set on this city. The people had left long ago, all that remained was dust and emptiness. It had once been packed with people of all shapes and sizes. The city loved its people and was pleased to provide for them the shelter they needed. The city enjoyed their sounds and busy nature. Now the city was alone, in silence. The people, her people, had abandoned her.

Why the people left, the city did not know. Nor did she know where her people were going. All the city knew was that she would no longer be admired for her great roads and beautiful buildings; no longer would people come from far and wide to get a glimpse of her; no longer would she enjoy their happiness. The city would be forgotten, and as the sun set below her tall peaks, the city began to weep, alone and in silence.
